Agriculture

The area surrounding Pouce Coupe has excellent growing conditions.  Farm land is affordable and production costs are low.

The Peace River area accounts for approximately 90% of total provincial grain production, 90% of canola, as well as the majority of its forage seed.  It also accounts for 30% of the provincial honey crop.

The Peace River Organic Producers Association reports that a growing number of farms across the Peace bio-region are now producing certified organic beef, bison, poultry, hogs, eggs, wheat, barley, herbs, hay, oilseeds and peas as well as table and seed potatoes, with more than 50,000 acres in the organic certification program.

Livestock operations in the Peace have grown over the years.  The Peace is now the largest cow/calf producing region of BC.
